Toledo, OH – Members of the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department participated in specialized training this week to earn Grain Bin Awareness Certification, strengthening their ability to respond to agricultural and industrial emergencies.
According to the department, members of the Special Operations Bureau’s Trench Rescue Team conducted the training at the grain silos operated by The Andersons in Maumee. The hands-on exercise provided firefighters with practical experience in grain bin rescue operations and safety procedures.
Officials said the training is designed to prepare first responders for emergencies involving confined spaces and hazardous conditions commonly found in grain storage facilities.
The department congratulated the firefighters who successfully completed the certification, noting their commitment to ongoing professional development and readiness for complex rescue situations.
Toledo Fire & Rescue also thanked The Andersons for providing access to the facility and supporting the training effort. Officials said partnerships like these help ensure firefighters are better prepared to respond to emergencies across the community.
