Ohio – The City of Toledo celebrated Arbor Day last Friday with third and fourth grade students from Elmhurst Elementary School at Elmhurst Park.
Officials said the annual event is designed to teach students about trees, the environment, and how natural ecosystems work together. During the celebration, students worked alongside volunteers to help plant 11 new trees throughout the park, including a ceremonial pagoda dogwood.
City representatives noted that the hands-on activity is intended to encourage environmental awareness and community involvement among young students.
The event was made possible through the support of several partners, including the Urban Forestry Commission, FirstEnergy Toledo Edison, Ohio State University Extension, and community volunteers who assisted with the tree planting efforts.
