Toledo, OH – Toledo Fire & Rescue Department showcased the use of pet oxygen masks during an emergency preparedness demonstration led by Lieutenant Ryan Hennessey.

According to the department, Hennessey demonstrated how the specialized equipment is used to provide lifesaving oxygen support to pets during emergency scenes. Officials noted that every Toledo Fire engine is equipped with a pet oxygen mask kit, and additional kits are also carried in Safety and EMS SUVs.

The department said the equipment is designed to assist in providing care for animals affected by smoke inhalation or other emergency conditions, helping first responders protect both residents and their pets.

Officials identified Wag’N 02 Fur Life LLC as the manufacturer of the Pet O2 masks used by the department. Toledo Fire & Rescue also expressed appreciation for donations provided by Project Paws Alive and The Toledo Kennel Club, which helped supply the equipment.

Fire officials said the availability of pet oxygen masks reflects ongoing efforts to enhance emergency response capabilities and ensure that pets receive care during fire and rescue operations.

The department emphasized its commitment to protecting all members of the household during emergencies, including animals impacted by fire-related incidents.
