Toledo Girl Seriously Injured in Dog Attack; Mother Faces Felony Child Endangerment Charge

TOLEDO, Ohio — A young girl sustained serious injuries after being bitten by a dog Saturday evening, prompting authorities to charge her mother with a felony for leaving her unsupervised.

According to Toledo police, Samantha Letrice Brown, 34, was arrested Saturday night following the incident. Officers stated that Brown left her daughter unsupervised at a location that has been withheld from court records.

The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. near a residence on Jermain Drive, just down the street from where Brown lives. Police reports indicate the girl suffered significant injuries as a result of the dog bite.

Brown faces a third-degree felony child endangerment charge and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday. Court documents did not disclose the child’s age or her current medical condition.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
