Pemberville Woman Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash Near Bowling Green

Wood County, Ohio — A 67-year-old woman from Pemberville, Ohio, tragically lost her life in a two-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday afternoon, just south of Bowling Green in Wood County. The incident took place shortly after 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of the Interstate 75 southbound exit ramp and U.S. Route 6, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash involved a Jeep Cherokee driven by a 19-year-old from Woodville, Ohio, who was attempting to turn east onto Route 6 after exiting the I-75 off-ramp. Authorities say the young driver pulled out in front of a westbound Chevy Traverse traveling along Route 6, resulting in a collision.

The passenger of the Jeep, later identified as Julia Coon, was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies confirmed Coon’s identity as a Pemberville resident.

The driver of the Chevy Traverse, a 41-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. His current condition remains stable.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, with officials working to determine any contributing factors. Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information to come forward.

As the investigation continues, the community is left mourning the loss of Coon, while also grappling with the aftermath of another tragic accident on Ohio’s roadways.
