Toledo, Ohio – A single-vehicle rollover accident early Thursday morning sent 10 people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Toledo Police Department.
The incident occurred on April 3 at approximately 1:30 a.m. when the vehicle, traveling northbound in the left lane of I-75 near I-280, encountered heavy rainfall. Police reported that the vehicle struck a large puddle that had formed in the lane, causing the car to hydroplane. As a result, the vehicle rolled over at least once before coming to a stop.
The passengers, including two adults and eight others ranging in age from six months to 14 years old, were all transported to a nearby hospital. Authorities confirmed that all individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
First responders quickly arrived at the scene and worked to secure the occupants of the vehicle. The investigation into the exact cause of the accident remains ongoing, but it is believed that the hazardous weather conditions contributed significantly to the crash.
As the investigation continues, police urge drivers to exercise extra caution during periods of heavy rain and to reduce speed, especially in areas where water may accumulate on roadways. Hydroplaning remains a dangerous risk for drivers in wet conditions, and officials emphasize the importance of staying alert and adjusting driving habits accordingly.
Local authorities are working to ensure that the affected area is cleared and safe for other drivers, but motorists are advised to avoid the area while cleanup and investigation efforts are underway.
