SYLVANIA TWP., Ohio – Sean Landis, 53, was convicted on all charges related to a violent double shooting that occurred in Sylvania Township on March 12. The jury found Landis guilty of attempted murder, aggravated burglary, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence in connection with the September 9, 2024, shooting that sent two victims to the hospital with serious injuries.
The shooting took place at a home on Crossfields Road, where Landis, a former co-worker of one of the victims, broke into the house and opened fire. Prosecutors said Landis shot one victim three times and the other four times during the attack. The victims were able to call 911, informing dispatchers that someone had broken into their home and that one of them had been shot multiple times.
“This case was about obsession, jealousy, and calculated violence,” said Lucas County Prosecuting Attorney Julia R. Bates. “We are grateful for the jury’s service and the opportunity to deliver justice for the victims. This case was a team effort involving our office, the Sylvania Township Police Department, and other agencies from Northwest Ohio to across the United States.”
Following the shooting, Landis fled Ohio and was later located in Las Vegas. Authorities, including the FBI and Las Vegas Police, worked together to arrest Landis at the MGM Grand Hotel. He was subsequently extradited to Toledo, where he was booked into the Lucas County Jail.
Landis is scheduled for sentencing on April 2, where he will face the consequences of his actions.
