Two Separate Shootings in Toledo Early Sunday Morning Under Investigation

TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo Police Department (TPD) is investigating two separate shootings that occurred early Sunday morning, leaving two people injured.

The first shooting took place on Ottawa Park Drive shortly after 6:00 a.m. Police report that one person was shot inside a residence, and the incident appears to have been the result of a domestic dispute. Authorities detained one individual in connection with the shooting, though it remains unclear whether they will face formal charges. According to TPD, all parties involved in the incident were living together at the residence. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was hospitalized and underwent surgery. Officials stated that the victim is expected to survive their injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

The second shooting occurred just before 4:00 a.m. on Eleanor Avenue. Officers responding to the scene found an adult male who had suffered a superficial gunshot wound to the shoulder. Fortunately, the injuries were not life-threatening, and the victim is also expected to survive. TPD arrested Maurion Mitchell in connection with the shooting. Mitchell was charged with felonious assault and booked into the Lucas County Jail. He is scheduled to appear before a judge Monday morning.

Both shootings remain under active investigation as authorities work to gather more details surrounding the incidents.
