Toledo, Ohio – Authorities have launched an investigation into allegations of child abuse linked to Soul City Boxing, a local gym. Toledo Police confirmed Thursday that they are looking into claims of inappropriate conduct involving the gym, although no charges have been filed at this time.
The investigation was sparked by reports of disturbing allegations involving staff members at the gym, with accusations ranging from grooming to inappropriate relationships with youth. The gym, which was temporarily closed earlier this week, has become the center of public scrutiny after these allegations surfaced on social media. The gym’s co-founder, Roshawn Jones, shut down its social media accounts and closed the gym following the backlash.
Jones has publicly denied the allegations, calling them false. In a statement to 13 Action News, he vehemently rejected the claims, asserting that they were nothing more than lies. Despite his denial, a police report was filed by a parent who claimed their daughter was a victim of inappropriate behavior at the gym. The parent reported that their daughter, who began boxing at 16 and is now an adult, had experienced abuse while attending Soul City Boxing.
Authorities have not released specific details regarding the investigation, citing the sensitive nature of the allegations. The police department has also stated that they are unable to share information about any suspects, as no charges have been filed.
The case gained further attention after it was revealed that Ocyean Jones, the 14-year-old sister of co-founder Roshawn Jones, had run away from home. The teen was missing for over two weeks, prompting concerns about her safety. During her disappearance, her sister, Olympic boxer O’Shae Jones, took to the streets in search of her, distributing flyers and pleading for her return. Ocyean was eventually located on Monday, though sources say she refused to go home with her parents. It remains unclear who is currently caring for the teen.
In response to the allegations, the owner of Soul City Boxing stated that he has been in contact with Toledo Police and intends to pursue legal action against a woman who publicly accused the gym on social media. The woman, who went live on social media to make the allegations, responded to an interview request with a text, stating she would reach out once she had time to do so.
As the investigation continues, police have urged anyone with additional information to come forward. The situation has left the local community divided, with some standing behind the gym and others expressing concern over the nature of the accusations.
At this time, the investigation is ongoing, and police have made it clear that further information will be released as the situation develops. The allegations surrounding Soul City Boxing have raised serious questions about the safety and well-being of young athletes in the gym, and the community is anxiously awaiting the results of the inquiry.
