Fire Contained at Toledo Recycling Facility, No Injuries Reported

Toledo, Ohio – A fire at the R&M Recycling facility on the city’s west side was successfully contained by firefighters Tuesday night. The incident, which began around 5 p.m., prompted a swift response from Toledo Fire and Rescue, who quickly got water on the flames and prevented further spread.

The fire, initially reported as a rubble blaze, broke out at the facility located in the 4100 block of Lagrange Street, near the intersection of Detroit and Sylvania. Crews worked tirelessly throughout the evening to control the situation. By just before 10 p.m., Toledo Fire and Rescue confirmed that the fire had been fully contained and no injuries were reported.

The Toledo Police Department closed off a significant area surrounding the facility to ensure safety during the firefighting efforts. Affected roadways included Detroit and Lagrange Streets, as well as sections of Sylvania Avenue. Police advised the public that these streets would remain closed for approximately four to six hours. However, by 10 p.m., all roads in the area had been reopened to traffic.

At this time, the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities have not released further details but have assured the public that no hazardous materials were involved in the blaze.

The quick and coordinated efforts of local emergency services helped prevent what could have been a far more damaging situation. Residents in the area were encouraged to avoid the scene and follow detour signs while the cleanup and investigation continued.
