TOLEDO, Ohio — A woman is fighting for her life after being rescued from the Maumee River early Friday morning, Toledo Fire & Rescue officials reported.
Emergency crews received a call shortly after 11:30 p.m. Thursday regarding a person in the water near the docks. According to TFRD Battalion Chief, four individuals had been swimming when the group lost sight of one of their friends.
One member of the group attempted to rescue the missing woman but was unable to reach her. Firefighters located and pulled the woman from the river around 1:00 a.m. Friday, after she had been submerged for approximately 80 minutes.
The woman was immediately transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition.
