Toledo, OH – A Toledo man has been convicted in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in February 2024. Eric Salmon, 43, entered an Alford Plea to Involuntary Manslaughter on March 3, 2024, after withdrawing his previous not guilty plea. The decision came just days before his scheduled trial.
Salmon was initially charged with two counts of murder and one count of felonious assault following the fatal shooting of Joshua Anders. According to court records, the incident unfolded on February 29, 2024, in the 400 block of Laskey Road. Toledo police responded to reports of a shooting and found Anders with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to treat him at the scene, Anders was later transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators revealed that the shooting stemmed from an altercation between Salmon and Anders. During the dispute, Salmon reportedly pulled a handgun from his right pant pocket and fired multiple shots at Anders. The Lucas County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Anders died from the gunshot wounds, ruling his death a homicide.
Salmon’s change in plea to Involuntary Manslaughter comes after extensive legal proceedings. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 24, 2024, where he will face consequences for his actions.
