TOLEDO, Ohio — Timothy Taylor, a resident of Monroe Street in Toledo, has voiced his frustration over what he describes as illegal dumping in his backyard, allegedly coming from the nearby Amoco gas station at the corner of Monroe and Auburn. According to Taylor, a significant amount of trash has been left in his yard and that of his next-door neighbor, with the piles appearing about a week ago.
“I spoke with the contractor at the gas station, and he admitted that the trash came from their store,” Taylor said. “The person who was supposed to pick it up hasn’t done so, and the mess is still here.”
Taylor’s complaint stems from ongoing renovation work at the gas station, which he believes led to the illegal dumping. After contacting the gas station, the I-TEAM spoke with the station’s manager, who confirmed that the trash did indeed come from their property. The manager explained that a contractor had been hired to clear out the business as part of the renovations, but the contractor had evidently dumped the waste in the residential yards.
Initially, the manager seemed reluctant to take full responsibility for the situation. However, after being pressed by I-TEAM Reporter Sophie Bates, the manager acknowledged the problem and committed to resolving the issue by working with Taylor to clean up the mess.
“I just want them to clean it up,” Taylor said. “It’s their responsibility, not mine. I’m just reaching out to the media to get some help.”
The I-TEAM will continue to follow the story and ensure that the situation is resolved. Taylor remains hopeful that the gas station will honor their promise and address the illegal dumping promptly.
