Toledo, Ohio – A 16-year-old boy is dead following a shooting in Toledo on Tuesday morning, and four men have been arrested in connection with the incident.
The victim, identified as Joseph Johnson, was shot in the 800 block of Woodward Avenue around 9:45 a.m. on March 4. According to the Toledo Police Department (TPD), Johnson succumbed to at least one gunshot wound. Emergency responders rushed the teenager to the hospital, but he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities arrested four men in connection with the shooting. Diamani Lear, Delveon Lear, Omarion Coleman, and Shamur Hughes, all 22 years old, face charges of murder in the death of the teenager.
Police affidavits indicate that the shooting occurred during a gun sale involving Johnson. The details surrounding the transaction are still under investigation, but law enforcement believes the sale escalated into violence.
Later in the day, officers conducted a traffic stop on Sylvania Avenue, where they detained several individuals in relation to the investigation. These individuals were taken to the TPD Safety Building for questioning. However, it remains unclear if they were the same people later charged with the murder.
