OTTAWA COUNTY, OHIO — A tense situation unfolded in Ottawa County on Monday when a man barricaded himself in the basement of a home while law enforcement officers attempted to serve a felony warrant. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team was dispatched to the scene after Dean Rahe, the subject of the warrant, evaded arrest by hiding from authorities.
According to a press release from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, officers from the Genoa Police Department arrived at a residence on State Route 51 to serve the felony warrant. When officers attempted to make contact, Rahe retreated into the basement of the home and refused to surrender.
In response, additional law enforcement support was called in, with officers from the Clay Township Police Department and the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office arriving on-site to assist in apprehending Rahe. The SWAT team was activated to safely resolve the situation, ensuring the safety of both officers and the public.
After several hours, Rahe was arrested and transported to the Ottawa County Jail. He is facing a series of charges in connection with the warrant, as well as additional charges related to the barricade incident.
