Toledo, Ohio – The Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Bridge will be temporarily closed for essential maintenance activities next week, according to a press release issued by the City of Toledo.
On March 4, the bridge will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for a bridge lift test. This temporary closure is necessary to assess the bridge’s operational capabilities.
Following this, the bridge will be closed again from March 5 to March 9 for a bridge deck pour, which will require extended closure. The closure will affect the section of the bridge between Summit Street and Boers-Boyer Way/Riverside Drive.
For drivers in the area, a detour will be established, directing traffic through Front Street to Craig Bridge and back to Summit Street in both directions. Despite the closures, access to International Park and the Docks restaurants will remain open via Main Street and Front Street.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead for potential delays and seek alternate routes during the closures.
