Man Pleads Guilty to Robbing Postal Carrier in Oregon, Ohio

OREGON, Ohio — A man facing federal charges for robbing a postal carrier in Oregon earlier this year has pleaded guilty.

Damere Wilson appeared in federal court on June 4, where he withdrew his previous not guilty plea and pleaded guilty to charges of Robbery of Mail, Money or Other Property of the United States, as well as Theft of Mail. Wilson is scheduled to be sentenced on September 16.

According to court records and a federal affidavit, Wilson admitted to robbing the Bancroft Street Post Office in Toledo in March 2024. Investigators say he used an arrow key — a tool used to open blue postal boxes — to access and steal mail. Wilson told authorities he discarded any mail that did not contain cash.

During the investigation, agents discovered Wilson in possession of over 200 stolen checks totaling several thousand dollars.

Wilson was arrested on April 1, and now awaits sentencing following his guilty plea.
