Hamilton, OHIO — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identity of the deputy killed in a tragic crash on Friday. Deputy Larry Henderson, a seasoned officer with over three decades of service, died when a vehicle, driven by the father of a man involved in an officer-involved shooting, struck him.
Deputy Henderson, who dedicated 33 years to law enforcement, was a highly respected member of the Sheriff’s Office. Over the course of his distinguished career, he served in numerous specialized units, including the HCPA SWAT team, the FBI Task Force, the HCSO Bomb Unit, and as an instructor at the Sheriff’s Academy. His diverse experience and commitment to his duties made him a vital figure within the department.
In a statement released Sunday, Hamilton County Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey expressed her sorrow, reflecting on Henderson’s contributions to both the agency and the community.
“In Deputy Henderson’s early tenure as a Sheriff’s Deputy, I recognized his talent for teaching and presentation,” Sheriff McGuffey said. “Larry began his journey as a Sheriff’s Office trainer early in his career. He developed an expertise and became an excellent trainer, subsequently training hundreds of deputy sheriffs. His ability to relate to and touch officers’ lives was extraordinary. We will continue to honor Larry’s life of service.”
