Habitat for Humanity of Findlay/Hancock County to Repair 25 Roofs for Local Residents in Celebration of 25th Anniversary

Toledo, OHIO – In honor of its 25th anniversary, Habitat for Humanity of Findlay/Hancock County is embarking on a mission to repair or replace 25 roofs for local residents in the coming months. The initiative, aimed at improving the homes of Hancock County residents in need, will be made possible through a grant recently received by the organization.

Wendy McCormick, the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Findlay/Hancock County, explained that the roof repairs are part of the nonprofit’s Critical Home Repair program, which has been serving the community for over a decade. “Warmer, safer, and drier are the core values of our Critical Home Repair program for the past 12 years, and it all starts with a secure roof,” McCormick said.

The program will partner with Habitat’s preferred roofing subcontractors to assist 25 residents between now and the fall. The repairs aim to address urgent home issues that can hinder the safety and security of families, particularly those who may struggle with maintenance or financial barriers.

Applications for roof repairs or replacements are now being accepted through May 2. Applicants must meet certain criteria to qualify, including having a household income of less than $45,000, with at least one resident aged 65 or older or disabled. Additionally, applicants must own a single-family home (no mobile homes) of 1,300 square feet or less and have lived in the home for at least two years.

“Our critical home repairs enable individuals to remain in a home they can afford and age in place for as long as possible,” McCormick said. “Together, we are framing the future and building community, because everyone deserves a decent place to live.”

Those who meet the criteria can apply for assistance online or by calling the Habitat for Humanity office at 419-429-1400 x6. The project underscores the nonprofit’s ongoing commitment to providing affordable housing solutions in Hancock County, ensuring that vulnerable residents have safe and reliable homes.

As Habitat for Humanity celebrates its 25th anniversary, this initiative not only honors the organization’s legacy but also underscores its mission of community empowerment and support. Through these roof repairs, Habitat for Humanity of Findlay/Hancock County is making a meaningful difference in the lives of local residents and continuing to build a stronger, safer community for all.
