TOLEDO, Ohio — A fire broke out on Fernwood Avenue late Tuesday night, prompting a swift response from local fire crews. The initial call reporting the fire came in around 10:30 p.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found heavy flames coming from the second floor of the vacant home. As crews attempted to enter the building, the intensity of the fire forced officials to pull all firefighters out for safety. Firefighters then adopted a defensive approach, combating the blaze from the exterior.
According to authorities, the house, which was found to be vacant and boarded up, had no active utilities at the time of the fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
Fire investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the fire. In addition, a structural assessment is underway to evaluate whether the house will need to be demolished due to the extent of the damage.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are expected to provide further details as they become available.
