TOLEDO, Ohio — Fire crews responded to a blaze late Wednesday night on Buckingham Street that damaged a mixed-use building, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The fire was reported around 10:30 p.m., according to officials on the scene. The affected structure houses a carry-out business in the front and residential units in the rear. Authorities confirmed that the residents were not home at the time the fire broke out.
Firefighters arrived quickly and were able to contain the flames before they could spread to neighboring structures. While the extent of the damage has not yet been fully assessed, the building sustained significant fire and smoke damage.
Due to the location of the fire’s origin and a known history of fire incidents on Buckingham Street, a fire investigator was called to the scene to determine the cause.
The investigation remains ongoing.
