Family Displaced After Electrical Fire in Toledo Home

TOLEDO, Ohio — A family of four was displaced from their home after an accidental electrical fire broke out Sunday afternoon on the second floor of a residence in the 3000 block of Inverness Avenue.

The fire, which was reported shortly after noon, prompted a swift response from local firefighters. Battalion Chief Mark Thompson, who was on the scene, confirmed that the blaze started on the second floor of the home. Fortunately, the mother and her teenage children were home at the time of the fire, but no injuries were reported.

Fire officials worked quickly to contain the fire, preventing further damage to the structure. The family’s pet cat was also safely rescued during the operation, adding a sense of relief amidst the chaos.

While the fire caused significant damage to the second floor, the exact cause of the electrical fire has yet to be determined, with officials stating the investigation is ongoing.

The displaced family is currently receiving assistance from local organizations as they begin the recovery process. The Red Cross is reportedly providing temporary housing and other resources to help the family as they navigate this difficult situation.

The Toledo Fire Department has urged residents to be vigilant when it comes to electrical safety, particularly in older homes, as electrical systems can be more prone to malfunctions.
