Toledo, OH – The Downtown Toledo YMCA will cease operations in March, as the organization shifts its focus to a new, state-of-the-art facility. The Wayman Palmer YMCA, located at 200 E. Bancroft Street, will officially open on March 14, but members of the Downtown YMCA will be able to access the new location starting March 5.
In an email to members, the Greater Toledo YMCA announced that the Downtown location will merge with the Wayman Palmer YMCA, offering a host of new amenities and features. The new facility boasts an indoor family pool with lap lanes, an outdoor splash pad, and a gymnasium designed for pickleball, basketball, and walking. In addition, an outdoor park will be available to members, providing more recreational opportunities.
The decision to close the Downtown YMCA marks a significant shift for the organization, but officials are optimistic about the benefits the new location will offer. The Wayman Palmer YMCA’s modern design and expanded amenities are expected to better serve the community, providing a range of activities for individuals and families alike.
Members of the Downtown YMCA are encouraged to transition to the new Wayman Palmer YMCA, where their membership will remain active. With the promise of more space and improved facilities, the new YMCA is poised to become a central hub for fitness, recreation, and community engagement in Toledo.
