TOLEDO, Ohio – A 30-year-old Toledo man has been indicted for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from a woman who hired him for home improvement services. Jared Sailer was charged with Grand Theft and nine counts of Theft by a Lucas County grand jury on January 13.
According to the indictment, Sailer was hired to cut down trees at the woman’s property in May 2024. During the course of the job, police say he took several personal checks and pieces of jewelry from her home. Authorities allege that Sailer later cashed the stolen checks, leading to a loss of more than $19,000 for the victim.
Sailer now faces serious charges as a result of the alleged thefts. He has been accused of exploiting his position as a contractor to gain access to the woman’s property and valuables. The indictment details that the thefts occurred over a period of time in May, and law enforcement is continuing to investigate the incident.
